Introduction
The 2000 No Child Left Behind Act authorizes Supplemental Educational Services (SES) designed to increase the academic achievement of students in schools that have not met State targets for increasing student achievement. ARC Associates (ARC) was first approved by the State of California as an SES provider in 2002. Recently, the program received state approval through the 2006-2007 school year.
ARC Connections is an after school program that tutors kindergarten through 12th grade students in reading/language arts, ESL, and mathematics. The ARC Connections program uses curriculum materials aligned with state-adopted academic standards and proven by research to be effective. In addition, the curriculum, materials and our small group-tutoring format have been developed and redefined over three years of implementation.
